When was the last time you sat down to really think about the women who inspired you on your creative journey?
And – have you taken the time lately to thank them? to tell them how much their support means to you and how much you love them?
In putting together the Create Explore Discover Retreat, it gave me a lot of time to reflect on the women that inspired me – the women that gave me the courage to become an entrepreneur, to believe in my creative soul and journey on this earth.
Remember back to when you were a kid and the teacher sat you in a circle to talk about connecting, being kind and supporting the others in your group or class? Imagine she has a ball of yarn and tells you that she is going to toss you the yarn while still holding on to the end. Once you receive the yarn, you are also going to hold on to a piece while picking the next person to toss it to. This goes on and on until everyone is holding a piece of the yarn in their hands.
The object of this game is see how we are all connected by this special web and that the things we say and do affect us all in some way or another.
The Create Explore Discover Art Retreat is a similar connection and a place where you too can become a part of a special web of kindness, support and love along your creative path.
As the growth of the retreat continues it has become even more evident to me that there is a growing need to provide a place where this support can be nurtured in our life’s journey.
To become each others “red thread” on the path and to acknowledge each others special journey is the goal.
This years retreat leaders were selected because they all embody these values and strive for them in their own daily lives. Lisa Congdon, Mati McDonough, Alessandra Cave and Anne Weil are an extension of the red thread and of the space I want to offer as you move forward in your own life’s pursuits.
The scholarship is my way of saying thank you for all the support and love that I have received through my own creative journey.
The scholarship will be presented to two women through a nomination and essay selection process. The essay should be about a woman who inspired you.
When I first began to play around with the idea of how I could give back to the women in my community, I went straight to one of my own female creative mentors, Marisa Anne from Creative Thursday. How Marisa shares her message of living creatively and with integrity are driving forces behind where I am today in my own life and business. Last year at the retreat, Marisa discussed the concept of the red thread and how as women we continually strive for a deeper connection with one another.
The thread grows and continues throughout life and weaves together a community which provides an opportunity for growth, connection and sustaining relationships.
All participants will have the opportunity to win a package full of exciting items from the instructors and redlinedesign®.
