CED 2013 – Alessandra Cave

by Sarah October 02, 2013

Alessandra Cave is a friend and photographer from San Francisco, this year she will be joining our teachers again at Create Explore Discover to share her knowledge and beautiful photography in 3 different courses. Alex and I met several years ago at a creative retreat in Colorado. We shared lunch over a picnic blanket surrounded by new found friends and clicked immediately. She is a kind, generous and very loving soul and I am so excited to share her with you for a 2nd year at the retreat.

Her first course offering on Saturday, October 19 from 9-noon is called:

Supernatural Portraits: Capturing Natural Light and Beauty in Portraits.

{Photo taken by Alex last year of two class participants}

“Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography. ” George Eastman

Do you want to learn how to translate that fantastic light you see in the world into gorgeously lit photographs? And do you also want to learn how to capture that glorious light that is pure joy, and comes from within your subject matter?  Then this workshop is for you!
In this class we will learn how to find that sweet spot where the natural beauty and expression of your subject matter is enveloped and enhanced by the softness and gentle touch of natural sunlight. We will shoot in well lit indoor spaces and also outdoors, in full sunshine and open shade.
We will explore our surroundings and the Lake Tahoe area, as a beautiful and inspiring backdrop, and we will shoot lots and lots of portraits, individually and as a group.
The course content focuses on lighting, but it also includes tips on basic principles of photography, such as: perspective, focus and composition. We will alternate tips, demonstrations, shooting time and discussions, in a supportive and non-intimidating environment. The emphasis will be on how to use the camera to capture light, beauty and connection. This class welcomes all levels of experience. All you need is a camera, a curious eye, and the desire to capture stunning and well lit supernatural portraits.

There are still some spots available for the weekend and a few day passes for Saturday and Sunday. We would love to have you join us and share in the beauty of Alex’s photography and the beauty of her soul.
