Word of the Year: 2013

January 01, 2013

Welcome to the new year! For the past 12 days I have shared my favorite instragram photos from 2012. Thanks so much for your kind comments. It definitely makes it more worthwhile when you know others are enjoying your art and creativity as much as you do. The photo above is of a snowman made by daughter Emily….it brings me joy and know this: creativity exists in all of us.

Each year for the past three years I have selected a word to help define the up coming year. I have used rest, hope and now this year ART. Art can mean many things to many people but for me it has been something that I have always pushed to the back because of my own insecurities with putting it out there fully.

This year, with the help of Michelle Ward, Tara Mohr, Tanya Geisler and all the friends, family and fans of my work I will be putting ART at the forefront of my business – redlinedesign®. I have always considered myself creative and artistic but have allowed my comfort with leadership, management and being “in charge” to define who I am as a person. You see leadership comes easy to me, it always has and it has allowed me to do great things with my career and my life. It will still be there as it is a part of me and a defining part of redlinedesign®. But there has always been something missing, something that has been calling my heart from my early days as a designer in Chicago. Now it is time….time for me….time for my art to be shared with the world.

So what exactly does that look like for redlinedesign®? It is an exciting path, as it now is the umbrella for mixed media art, photography and creative events planning. I will be creating and selling my mixed media art and photography through a new shop on the website and locally here in Northern Nevada and California and will be open to expanding my art throughout the world. don’t worry though, I will continue sharing my creative journey and tips with you here on the blog and in the newsletter. In addition, I will be continuing the two creative events that are near and dear to my heart: The 3rd Annual Create Explore Discover Art Retreat to be held October 17-20, 2013 and the redlinedesign® handmade holiday event to be held in December.

My special project – 100 Wednesday’s will continue and know you can join in at any time on Flickr.

The first item on my agenda is a minor facelift and update to the redlinedesign® website. A new landing page, shop and specific offerings will come available over the next month or two and include a trip to New York to create a special video for the landing page.

Have a great day!
