story bowl success

Yesterday marked the first story bowl event in Reno. It was awesome! Thank you to everyone that attended and for all the stories we shared. We laughed, we reminisced, we met new people and most importantly we connected and expanded our community.

If you missed yesterday, there will be a 2nd story bowl next week. Hope you will consider joining us:

Last year my friend Andrea shared a vision with her community.

She “imagined a group of women (who didn’t know each other) around a table, eating beautiful food, and passing around a bowl filled with story prompts. One by one, they would tell an impromptu story about their lives. It would be connecting, and nourishing, compassion building and healing”.

I loved her vision so much that she has allowed me to share it with you, here in Reno.

What thrills me about the idea is that I have been craving real connection with other like minded women and know there must be others out there that are too.

If you know me, you know, that I love hosting people and celebrating with others. So the combination of a celebration + a story thrills me.

Just like Andrea, I also believe in the power of storytelling.

For centuries people have passed down their histories and stories by talking and communicating with others in their communities.

Author Philip Pullman said: ” After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

A storybowl is no exception. Andrea has been holding them for a year and I am honored to continue her tradition in Reno. In Andrea’s words: “It is just the right mix of fun, connection, deep nourishment, compassion building and healing.”

Please join me for a bowl.
