welcome march

by Sarah March 08, 2013

February is a blur to me. I was home for 6 days out of the month. At the beginning of the month I attended The Golden Ticket in NYC which was such an amazing experience that it will take its own set of posts to explain the love and beauty that occurred during a full day of goodness, videos and female bonding.

From NYC it was back to Reno for 4 days and then off to San Francisco for some personal time with my daughter. Then home again for 2 days and then a family road trip to LA.

It has taken me some time to get back into a routine and to share here in this space. I have seen so much and have gathered so much inspiration that I am spending some time deciding how best to write about it…but do know this….there are some really exciting, colorful and inspirational posts coming over the next few months.

This month:

  • Getting ready to launch my first product line of the year called Flourish. You can get a sneak peek at some of the items in my shop and I will be formally introducing it to you next week.
  • Finalizing a new landing page and portfolio page for the website. My designer, Jo is incredible. Make sure to stop by her new website the darling tree to see how a designer designs for herself. Stunning work…
  • Finalizing the list of instructors for this years Create Explore Discover Retreat. If you are interested in a sneak peek at instructors and early information, don’t forget to sign up for the special Create Explore Discover List. Exciting things happening.
  • ART: as I mentioned in January my word of the year is ART and I am busy creating behind the scenes daily with photography, sketching and mixed media pieces. I also just signed up to take Make Art that Sells with Lilla Rogers and am so excited to learn from such a creative leader in the illustration and art industry.

A few pieces of creative inspiration to check out if you have a moment this weekend:

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy March!

Weekly Inspiration: Gratitude and Spring

by Sarah March 26, 2012

Happy Spring everyone. Just a few pieces of inspiration to start you off on your week. I have shared this video with my email subscribers but I love it so much that I am sharing it again here with you on the website.

Also, some lovely photography and article about springtime desserts by Emilie Guelpa on Decor 8.

and Etsy is one of my favorite places for exploring new art and artists. Every couple of weeks I curate a collection based upon my favorite finds….here is one called black, white and brown and one called inner spring.

Finally, last week I finished a custom jewelry project for several friends. Each piece is made with my original photography, and sealed with ICE resin. I learned how to create these pieces from Liz Kalloch at the first ever create explore discover art retreat that I hosted last fall. I have several designs in process that I will be sharing in the shop in the coming weeks. Hope you enjoy these pieces and also the special packaging.

Have a great week everyone…..

RENO, NEVADA (August 22, 2011) – This fall in beautiful Lake Tahoe, an inaugural art retreat will be held attracting those who aspire for more creativity in their lives to gather among talented instructors and let their creativity abound for three glorious days.  From painting to photography to embroidery illustration, attendees will be encouraged to reconnect with their “inner creative” while exploring the great outdoors, enjoying healthy, delicious food and having a playful get-away.   This retreat is designed to be a creative, hands-on, intimate event; really the first of it’s kind in the area.   All levels of artists are encouraged to attend.  No experience necessary; just a desire to learn and play creatively.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to spend a weekend rejuvenating their creative spirit in one of the most beautiful places on the west coast,” said Sarah Stevenson, founder of the event.

Featured artists at the retreat include award winning illustrator, artist and author Denice Barlow Brown; Marisa Anne, the artist and blogger behind Creative Thursday, who’s art is sold at major retailers including Urban Outfitters, Papyrus and Land of Nod; painter, designer and artist Liz Kalloch and registered interior designer and avid photographer Sarah Stevenson.

100 Wednesdays-Create Explore Discover Art Retreat

by Sarah July 06, 2011

Happy Wednesday everyone……Its been quite awhile since I have done a 100 Wednesday post so I am excited to share this one with you today. As I said in other posts it has been quite a busy time for redlinedesign® these past few months and now I am able to start sharing the fruits of all that labor. I think I mentioned yesterday that we would be launching the logo for our new retreat soon and of course as soon as I as I woke up this morning my inbox had this beautiful logo waiting for me….I love what Jo created for us….she took my photograph that is on createexplorediscoverand transformed it into a piece of simple beauty….exactly what I wanted. Fall happens to be my favorite time in Lake Tahoe and I love exploring the area with my family… finding pieces of beauty along the way…..The aspen leaf is one of those pieces for me. If you know the Lake Tahoe area at all you know that the color is manly shades of brown, green and a stunning white from the rocks on the mountains and of course the stunning blue and green of the lake. But in the fall this incredible yellow emerges as the Aspen trees begin to change and fall off the trees. You can be driving along and see bursts of yellow that are warm and inviting. This is exactly what I want to share with you when you join us on our weekend…A warm, inviting and colorful weekend in the mountains…exploring and creating on your own terms, in your own time frame. I smile just thinking about it…..So please share this with your friends and family and join me on this wonderful creative journey….your car is waiting at the airport…..

Have a great Wednesday everyone…..

Welcome July: Create Explore Discover Art Retreat

by Sarah July 01, 2011

Happy July 1st everyone and Happy 4th of July weekend. Today I am bringing some really exciting news from redlinedesign®. We have just launched a new website for an art retreat that I will be hosting called Create Explore Discover. The retreat will be held from October 6-9th, 2011 at the Cedar Sport Hotel in Truckee, California. This has been my main focus for the last month, so I apologize for the lack of posting on the blog but I wanted to make sure that we got everything set for the launch and am working feverishly with some really awesome artists to teach us at the retreat.

So first all, to access the new site: createexplorediscover (www.createexplorediscover.com); here you will find general information about the retreat including: the location, the schedule, accomodations, class information and contact information; class and instructor information is being updated and finalized over the next few weeks and registration will open on July, 11, 2011. At that time you will be able to make class selections, register and begin planning a special fall weekend getaway in the Sierra Mountains. Registration will be processed through our secure paypal site and space will be limited so that we can keep the retreat as intimate and focused as possible.

In addition to the website you can follow us on facebook (CEDartretreat) and twitter (@CEDartretreat) and we are listed on a new creative class website called: seekyourcourse.

Who will be teaching at createexplorediscover?

Our headline teacher and keynote speaker for the retreat will be:

Marisa Haedike of Creative Thursday. I have spent over a year following and taking courses from Marisa and I am so excited to share her with you all. Her stories and her vision of art and creativity are so genuine and real that I know you will enjoy her as much as I have.

Our instructors include:

Liz Kalloch of Liz Kalloch Design. Another incredible artist that I have been following and working with since April, 2010. If you have been following the blog you know that Liz is the leader of The Meetup that I participate in monthly. Liz is an incredible writer and artist and I know her vision of creativity will completely inspire you.

Sarah Stevenson of redlinedesign®: yes…..I will also be teaching at the retreat and have a few really exciting things up my sleeve. I will reveal them as the next week unfolds and can’t wait to share my little piece of Lake Tahoe with you.

There are also several other artists in the works and they will be revealed on the blog as we finalize information with them.

In addition to the artists I will have many people working with me to ensure the retreat is a full success. The first person I want to introduce is my dear friend Kathleen. (If you have followed me from the beginning you know Kath is the one that convinced me to start a blog–so look where a year and half has taken me…..) Kathleen will be working by my side to ensure that the retreat runs smoothly, sponsors are taken care of and will be adding her special touch to event and class details. she can be reached at: kathleen@createexplorediscover.com.

The second person is Jo Klima of The Darling Tree. Jo is currently working with me to create an incredible logo for the event. We are really close to completing it and will share it here on the blog when it is finished. Jo has also just finished creating new blog buttons and logo pieces for the shop but I will introduce those in a separate post….

So there you have it, an intimate art retreat and fall getaway in the mountains above Lake Tahoe…..hmmm, care to join to me?

Happy 4th of July……
