six weeks of creating

by Sarah September 05, 2010

A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
— Antoine de Saint Exupéry

Over the last six weeks I have been involved in the most amazing online art course with Creative Thursday…As a welcome to September I would like to share with you all the pieces that I made and some special notes about my experiences each week. Today will focus on week one…

Week 1: Photography

Lake Tahoe from my iphone. A stunning photo of the sun shining over the lake. Photo taken with the iphone camera no special additions to the photo.

This piece is called: OOOOOhhhhhh…
It was an experiment using the iphone with the camera bag app

This piece is called The Flying A…… The photo was taken with the iphone experimenting with the hipstamatic app.

Week 1 notes: As you know, I love photography. This was a real departure for me as I experimented with a different way of photographing. While I enjoyed it, I realized through the process that I like to show my work in its real light with its full color and simply stated.

From the photography exercise I wanted to create a piece of art from one of my original photographs and tell the story behind it. Below is the piece but the story transformed into words describing the scene. This piece now hangs in my daughters room which I will share for week 2 and 3 tomorrow.

12 x 12 canvas with acyrlic paint, matte medium, textured papers, letter stickers and original photograph titled: Serenity

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Happy Labor Day and see you again on Tuesday for more of 6 weeks of creating….
