100 Wednesdays-Student Work

by Sarah November 10, 2010

Physically alter a page

I couldn’t alter a page in my sketchbook without ripping it out, so I decided to alter a piece of newspaper. Since I’m a journalism major I thought it would be most appropriate. This is a piece from last Thursday’s New York Times style section.

I have been promising for weeks to share student work from the special project I am doing with University of Georgia Fashion and Design Students. So this week on 100 Wednesday’s I have several pieces to share from our project.

Each week for class, the students have been uploading  6 to 7 items to a special flickr pool from their 100 idea sketchbooks. It has been an amazing experience for me to see the different perspective that each person has in regards to creativity and their definition of the ideas presented. This week I am highlighting 5 students and will note for you which idea they chose. Remember 100 Ideas is based upon a project on Keri Smith’s website and my goal with this project was to see how when given the same creative parameters students will interpret those parameters. It is not my intention to copy Keri’s work in any way but to use it as a tool for exploring creativity.

Define Simplicity by “Kylbie”

Write an entry about a secret. Cut it up and glue it randomly. by Gretchen

Hang Upside Down for 5 minutes by Mary

All the students participating in this project are Junior and Senior Fashion Merchandising and Interiors students. Their course instructor is: Jaya Rose.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.
