this photo in the Catskills in a little downtown area. It captured a place stuck in time as most of the area seemed to be. Left in the hey day of the 50’s and 60’s when great little resorts dotted the area. Now most of these buildings just stand as they were a symbol of history and a little bit of sadness in something that was. I enjoy capturing photos like this as you can create your own story behind them and that is exciting. In my mind, this could be a great opening scene of a movie….let your imagination run wild…

{smoke not fog}

current events can also be a great source of capturing something in your community. Right now Reno is in its 2nd week of incredible smoke from the Rim Fire in Yosemite. It is actually quite dangerous to go outside and certainly does not make you feel good when you do. Our usual incredible mountains and deep blue skies are covered by a thick cloud of smoke. On occasion it blows out but blows right back in again after a few hours.

this photo reminded me of the scene in Alice in Wonderland where Helen Bonham Carter was yelling for a pig to rest her feet on…This pig happens to be in one of my favorite restaurants in Reno – Old Granite Street. I love the illustration and the definition on the wall. It gives me inspiration for my own illustration and mixed media and how to keeping it simple is a good way to proceed.
